Fridge Goals: My Summer Berry Prep Routine π
Nothing says summer like a fridge full of juicy strawberries, plump blueberries, and raspberries that didn’t turn to mush in 24 hours. π
But if you’ve ever bought berries on Monday only to toss them by Thursday, friend — I feel you. And I’ve got a better way.
π§Ό Step 1: The Rinse That Actually Works
As soon as I bring home fresh berries, I give them a gentle rinse using this tried-and-true method:
- Fill a large bowl with cool water
- Add a splash of white vinegar (about 1–2 Tbsp)
- Let the berries soak for 3–5 minutes
Vinegar kills bacteria that causes mold — without changing the flavor.
π« Step 2: Dry Gently + Store Smart
After rinsing, I lay the berries out on a clean towel and let them air-dry completely. Moisture = enemy #1 for berry storage.
Then it’s time to store them in my Tupperware FridgeSmart containers. They’re magic. Not literally — but close:
- They control airflow with adjustable vents
- Keep produce fresh longer
- Stack beautifully in the fridge (cue: fridge envy)
Bonus: They come with a little produce guide built in. π
π How I Use Prepped Berries
Now that my berries are fresh and ready, here’s how I actually use them all week:
- Morning smoothies with frozen banana + almond milk
- Fruit salad for toddler snacks (and mine!)
- Yogurt parfaits with granola & honey
- Berries + wine = my favorite lazy dessert
π· A Sweet Little Pairing
Friday nights, I’ll treat myself to a bowl of mixed berries and a glass of Boisset’s French Kiss RosΓ©. Light, slightly sweet, and perfect with chilled fruit. Highly recommend. π♀️
